‘Artists Without Walls’ (AWW) is a permanent forum for dialogue between Israelis and Palestinians engaged in all fields of art and culture.

AWW was founded in February 2004 by a small group of Israeli and Palestinian artists who felt somehow alienated by political activism and who sought to ‘speak another language’ to try and improve communication and ties between the two people.

The small group quickly grew to include dozens of participants on both sides, coming from all fields of arts, including theater, cinema, video art, performance art, plastic art and architecture.

Since its inception, AWW has succeeded to open up Israeli and Palestinian artists to each other at personal level, and beyond that to a better and more ‘human’ understanding of each other’s societies and issues.

Through AWW, large groups of Israeli artists have been able to visit Ramallah for the first time, starting a process of dialogue with Palestinian artists whom they did not know.
In the same fashion, Palestinian artists have visited their Israeli friends in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.

The personal connections between artists from both sides has been at the bases of artistic creations such as films and exhibitions.

The Form of Resistance In a Military Zone
The present unravels in deterioration without end, and the future appears as marching towards catastrophe. The Israeli army, its politicians and with the full support of Israeli society, accelerate the bloodbath by committing war crimes that further aggravate the conflict with Arab countries, which will last for generations and pit the Palestinians as hopeless enemies... more about
