The Open Circle is an artist´s initiative- formed in 1999. The Open Circle aims to create a platform for a meaningful dialogue on an intercultural level, on the issues most pertinent to the present day cultural and political environment. The most vociferous amongst these being the questions of acknowledgement of cultural plurality as opposed to cultural homogenisation i.e. inquiries into the phenomenon of globalisation, implying it´s existence today in a discrepant mode only to sustain the centre through homogenisation. The proposed series of interactions through transnational workshops will bring together visual artists and theorists to exchange ideas through discussions as well as praxis. Such transactions would deepen the understanding and information of ideologies that underlie the formal manifestations from the various countries.
